KIVISAARI

Helsinki’s newest island destination will open its doors for the first time on June 20, 2024!

Experience something truly unique! Designed by Eliel Saarinen and built in 1918, Merilinna invites visitors to enjoy unparalleled views and soak in the atmosphere of a bygone era.

The island is located in the middle of the old Helsinki archipelago’s villa area, which has largely been closed off to ordinary citizens until now.

Kivisaari offers accommodation for up to 50 people in several different buildings. Options include staying in your own cottage, a room in the unique Merilinna designed by Eliel Saarinen, or more affordable and self-catering accommodation in the Viherlehto and Kaleeri buildings and the Family Cabin. Every room has a sea view, and the surroundings are absolutely lovely and cozy!

All rooms have a small refrigerator and microwave, but no stove. There is a power outlet in every room for charging phones. The rooms do not have toilets or showers; instead, there are 8 dry toilets on the island, a sauna for washing, and a barbecue area. The water is drinkable (water points are near the toilet buildings, but there are no water points in the rooms).

Bedheets are only included in Myrskyluoto and Rantamökki cabins and in the Merilinna building rooms. For the more affordable accommodation in Viherlehto, Kaleeri and Family Cabin, please bring your own sheets )you may also rent sheets and towels at the reception if you forgot to bring your own).

Check-in starts at 14:45 and check-out is by 10:30.

You can leave your luggage at the reception, but the space is not locked.

Bookings can be done from 17th of June at 3 pm onwards. Reservations can be done for dates starting from 20th of June. Booking platform will be on this page.

Each reservation includes transportation and breakfast for two people. Additional persons must be notified at the time of booking, and they will also receive breakfast and transportation included in the price. There is also a barbecue area on the island, although we recommend trying the delicious offerings at the Kivisaari restaurant.

Bed linen and towels are included in the price for separate cottages “Myrskyluoto” and “Rantamökki” and Merilinna accommodations. For other accommodation types (Viherlehto, Kaleeri, Family Cabin), please bring your own bed linen and towels.
